Will I have to give up my favorite foods and will I still be able to eat delicious food?

Rest assured, you will still be able to enjoy your favorite foods. At Dancing Salmon, I believe food nourishes the body & soul and we will work together to develop a nutrition approach which feels sustainable, fun and healthy. Each client is unique and there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach taken with nutrition.  I don’t prescribe fitness or nutrition plans. 

What credentials does a health coach have? 

At minimum, health coaches hold some type of certification in health Coaching. Zoya has a certificate in peri-menopause, a Masters in Physical Therapy as well as being a Certified Integrative Women’s Health Coach.  

What is health coaching? How does a health coaching visit differ from a doctor visit? Can I only schedule visits with health coaches when I am sick or not doing well? 

Health coaching is a collaborative partnership where you have support to make changes towards better health. With traditional doctor visits, the provider is the expert and may prescribe treatment. Also with typical Western Medicine, often the goal is treatment of symptoms instead of addressing root causes of symptoms. During health coaching, you are the expert decision maker for your life. Through a process of exploration and gaining understanding, a health coach guides you in setting and working towards your individualized goals. The goal of health coaching is to support your well-being, whether you are managing a medical condition or not. You can come to a health coach with a specific or broad goal in mind.  

What aspects of my life can I address with Zoya? 

Eating habits/nutrition, finances, health maintenance, life satisfaction, physical activity, sleep and relaxation, stress and weight management, relationships, spiritual practices, post-partum, perimenopause or menopause symptoms are all areas that we can address together. It’s your choice as to what you want to focus on to improve your well-being. 

How many visits will I need with my health coach? 

There are several packages available including 3 or 6 months. Zoya will work with you to find a package that works for your schedule in your price range. 

I want to hire a health coach but will I be able to afford it?  

Zoya has several coaching packages available with sliding scale payment options and monthly payment plans are an option.

How long are the health coaching sessions? 

The first intake session is 1 hour and follow up sessions are 45 minutes. 

Are sessions in person or in zoom? 

Most sessions are done via zoom but for Kodiak residents there may possibility for in person offerings. Please contact Zoya to discuss the options which might be available for you.

How will health coaching bring lasting change? 

Health coaching is client focused and you are in the drivers seat. Because of these factors, the changes made have the potential of being more profound and long lasting than other traditional approaches to health care where information is given, things are “prescribed” without consideration to an individuals unique situation. Health coaching helps you take a series of small, doable steps that become long-lasting, meaningful and powerful changes.
